| The new 17th Edition of the Wiring Regulations took effect from the 1st of June 2008. There are a significant number of changes, additions and deletions. The good news for anyone in the line of Testing and Inspection - there are no changes that prevent your current Megger testers being used. If a meter has a built in "Pass/Fail" indicator then the values to the old 16th Edition limits must be re-adjusted to comply with the 17th Edition. The new MFT1553 accompanied with Megger PowerSuite Professional and its ability to Bluetooth results directly into either a Pda or a Laptop makes using a pencil a thing of the past. |

| Part P of the Building Regulations requires that electrical installation work in dwellings needs to meet the requirements of the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671). Compliance to the regulations can be demonstrated through self certification, using an approved competent persons scheme authorised by the government. Another method you could use does not require you to be part of a competent persons scheme. Instead you would need to submit a building notice to the Local Authority Building Control, for notifiable work which the local authority will inspect. Your existing 17th test equipment complies both with the old and new legislation. The relevant standards for test equipment are IEC61010 and EN61557. |
