PATS was set up in 1993 to assist factory managers, engineers, shopkeepers and office managers to come to terms with the current legislation for the maintenance of electrical equipment.
Since then PATS has extended its business to assist test instrument manufacturers to develop electrical safety test instruments and software.
We can also supply our clients with the full spectrum of hardware and software to fulfil their needs, from the test instrument to the tag or label, and from the software to the training course
We use our own tag system for PAT testing called the Portable Appliance Tag System. This simplifies our work and provides a safe system, which a sticky label does not always achieve.

Onshore and Offshore
Primarily the company was totally based onshore but as our past expertise had included working offshore since 1978, PATS soon found itself helping oil companies come to terms with the current legislation. We have supplied and set up portable appliance test systems for Conoco Philips on the Britannia platform, Apache's Beryl A and B platforms, Apache's Forties Platforms, Nexen's Scott platform, BHP Douglas platform, Wood Group Hummingbird FPSO and most of the BP platforms in the North sea.
Major onshore projects have included BP Sullom Voe oil terminal in Shetland, Conoco Philips gas terminal in Lincolnshire, BNFL (Magnox) Projects in various locations and UK coal operations. We have also supplied and set up PAT testing systems for local authorities around the UK as well as the Shetland and Orkney islands
